MJS Hoarding Cleanup San Bernardino, CA

What is the Reality of Advanced Decomposition?

An unattended death is one of the most complex biohazard situations a property can face. As the body naturally breaks down, it releases biological fluids that are highly acidic and rich in bacteria. These fluids rapidly migrate, soaking deeply into mattresses, seeping through floorboards, and penetrating the structural framing of the house. Standard cleaning chemicals cannot touch this level of contamination. When you call for our crime and trauma scene cleanup, we utilize specialized enzymatic agents that literally digest the trapped biological matter at the microscopic level, permanently destroying the bacteria that cause decay.

How to Eradicate Severe Odors Permanently

The most overwhelming aspect of an unattended passing is the odor. The scent of decomposition is incredibly powerful; it attaches to clothing, sinks into drywall, and is pulled through the home's HVAC ductwork, spreading to every single room. You cannot cover this smell with air fresheners or bleach.

Our biohazard clean up technicians use a multi-step eradication process:

• Source Removal: We safely extract all biologically saturated materials (carpets, subfloors, furniture) and dispose of them as medical waste.
• Thermal Fogging: We deploy thermal foggers that push a deodorizing vapor deep into the porous walls and ceiling to neutralize trapped scent molecules.
• Hydroxyl Generators: We run advanced hydroxyl air scrubbers. These machines alter the molecular structure of the air, actively hunting down and destroying the odor-causing bacteria without using toxic ozone, ensuring the house smells completely fresh and neutral.

Restoring Safety and Value to the Property

Whether you are a grieving family member trying to prepare the home for an estate sale, or a landlord needing to quickly restore a rental unit, an unattended death severely threatens the property's value and livability. Our biohazard cleanup services are designed to be a complete reset. We remove the biological threat, eradicate the odor, and provide you with a certificate of sanitization, guaranteeing the home is scientifically safe for the next occupants.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Can I just throw the mattress away and paint the walls? Absolutely not. If biological fluids have soaked into the floor beneath the mattress, painting the room will only trap the bacteria. The rotting matter will continue to produce horrific odors that will eventually push right through the new paint. The physical source of the contamination must be surgically removed and the area chemically treated before any cosmetic repairs are done.
• How do you protect yourselves during an unattended death cleanup? Our technicians wear full Level C Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This includes impermeable hazmat suits, double-layered nitrile gloves, booties, and full-face respirators equipped with P100 HEPA and organic vapor cartridges to protect our lungs from airborne pathogens and severe odors.
• Will the smell ever completely go away? Yes, but only if the remediation is done correctly. Once we physically remove the source of the biological fluids and run our hydroxyl generators for the appropriate amount of time, the odor will be permanently destroyed at the molecular level. It will not return.
• Do you handle the disposal of the contaminated furniture? Yes. Any furniture, bedding, or carpeting that has absorbed biological fluids cannot go to a standard landfill. We package these items safely in specialized biohazard containers and transport them to a licensed medical waste facility for proper incineration.
